Shamrock V

Shamrock V in hull form was much the same as the American Js but in the adoption of new technologies and equipment the boats were very different. As Charles Nicholson her designer is quoted to have said “in England there was a strong prejudice against innovation and originality with a strong preference for tradition”

Unlike on the  America J ‘s where each and every post on the yachts were filled by the most qualified people regardless of rank or wealth and whose opinion was welcomed,  Shamrock was run like a stately home with paid staff before the mast and Gentlemen aft..
