Weetamoe Leads the Way
Weetamoe leads Enterprise home in the second race of the Long Island series in June 1930. Their great spinnakers filled with sunlight, the two yachts sweep across a sparkling sea, accompanied by spectator craft along the distant horizon.
The low viewpoint gives the yachts an imposing presence, while the foreground waves draw the viewer into the scene. Luminous sails, slender hulls and the bustle of the following fleet capture the elegance and excitement of the first J Class season.
