‘Puritan’ is the third oil painting that we have purchased from Shane but the first commissioned.
Our first two oil paintings were ‘Waves’, after Sally-Anne admired his work at a Falmouth Gallery.
We also wanted a large original oil painting of a classic yacht for above our fireplace - a focal point in a large open plan space.
Shane proposed Puritan, a restored 1930’s schooner he had sailed in the South of France and sent some photos.
Puritan, powering through the waves off the coast of Cannes was an impressive sight and we were smitten.
Photos and measurements were sent so he could advise on the exact size and positioning, we agreed a price and left him to it.
Based on subsequent correspondence we believe that Shane put his heart and soul into this painting.
We were and continue to be thrilled with the result. The painting is admired and remarked upon by all who have seen it.
Standing in front of it, we feel we are there, on the water, this beautiful yacht bearing down on us through a choppy sea with such power and energy, the sun shining through its sails, all against a magical and slightly brooding backdrop.
We have not mentioned delivery.
To our and Shane’s disappointment, Covid restrictions prevented him delivering the painting personally so it had to be crated and couriered.
Any fears of damage in transit were misplaced.
It arrived when a friend of ours, a retired joiner, happened to be here and he was very impressed with the quality of the crate.

It has been a great pleasure purchasing the 3 paintings I now proudly own of Shane Couch. One was especially commissioned, one bought on first sight from a gallery and this large wave bought from online viewing.I’d happily buy more. Shane has been very responsive and patient with my directions and requests, the final result is even better that the mock ups and sketches he sent me during that process.Shane is an outstanding artist on any stage, not only the marine art world but simply as a powerful painter of exciting and gorgeous images.

We first came across Shane's work in Cornwall and we were blown away with the realism of his brushwork capturing the colours, light reflections, movement and power of the sea. We contacted Shane to commission a bespoke painting of the waves in Watergate Bay for a special birthday. We had a fun time looking at options together and suggesting tweaks until he created the perfect one. He is so personable and open to ideas and the picture is much admired in pride of place in our home. We were at Watergate Bay earlier in the year and the colour of the sea was identical.

The wonderful seascape that you painted for us continues to be greatly admired by all our friends, and we love it. Once again, thank you very much for all the trouble you took to give us exactly what we wanted in this very large painting.
