 With the conclusion of the Americas Cup the two British J’s where invited to participate on the New York Yacht Club Cruise, the premier event of the yachting calendar in America. The painting depicts them racing on Buzzards Bay on a beautiful sunny day with a nice breeze, perfect sailing conditions. The painting captures the yachts shortly after the start on starboard tack, Rainbow is shown on Ranger’s weather bow with Endeavour ll just on her weather quarter, astern of Ranger we see Endeavour and between them Yankee already on port tack. This race was to be long remembered as it was a scene that captured the majesty and splendour of the J class shortly before they passed into history.
